This role will:

  • Take full ownership of delivering an integration web services layer for the Oracle Retail Merchandising System (RMS)
  • Ensure that the backlog is visible, transparent, and clear to all
  • Clearly express the business needs (“what” not “how”) in terms of user stories and acceptance criteria
  • Work directly with stakeholders to protect the development team from interruptions, appropriately size the work items, and negotiate priority across competing interests
  • Provide a clear priority of work items to best achieve goals and ensure each sprint delivers business value
  • Leverage strong system analysis skills to review high level designs from publishing systems and subscribing systems to drive detailed service designs
  • Lead cross functional detailed designs sessions to derive web service contracts (WSDLs), custom mappings and canonical schemas
  • Develop system architecture and data flow diagrams to aid the delivery team’s understanding of technical user stories
  • Review acceptance tests/code in Cucumber and sign off on the tests meeting requirements
  • Develop technical nonfunctional user stories to support services (i.e. instrumentation, telemetry, alerting, refactoring of software, build automation, database maintenance, etc.)
  • Collaborate with engineering to understand and bridge the gaps between current service design and target AWS cloud architecture
  • Empower the development team instead of managing them; is a peer to the team members, while fostering collaboration and communication
  • Support the team in their quest to grow development quality practices and processes (i.e. Continuous Integration, TDD)
  • Possess strong inter-personal, communication, and negotiation skills for both non-technical & technical audiences
  • Proactively mitigate risks and resolve issues
  • Define and measure KPIs to ensure delivery goals

Qualifications:

  • Experience driving projects that deliver APIs and web services
  • Understanding of the types of requirements necessary to deliver web services and familiarity with RESTful services, JSON, SOAP, AWS, etc.
  • Experience supporting services in a production environment
  • Skillful at understanding and managing the schedule, scope and cost trade-offs
  • Leadership – must be a strategic thinker, able to convert transformative ideas to practical solutions that deliver results
  • Ability to influence others – is very skilled and comfortable informing and leading others to action on key initiatives.
  • Experience integrating Oracle Retail 13/14 packages (Retail Merchandising System, Store Inventory Management, and Retail Integration Bus) in a multi-instance RMS environment preferred
  • Experience with Oracle RDBMS (PL/SQL) or equivalent
  • Delivering object oriented based applications, services, and APIs
  • Experience working in an Agile environment/team
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science or related field required; Software development experience preferred; Retail experience a plus
